    • Secured long-term alignment with APG AM’s digital and sustainability goals

As APG Asset Management (APG AM) mapped out its future, the organization identified digital transformation and sustainable investment as critical pillars of its 3-5 year strategy.

With rising regulatory demands and shifting values and priorities, APG AM recognized that achieving these goals boldly would require leaders who could navigate change with confidence and vision, ensuring alignment across teams and departments.

Key Challenge

While APG AM’s strategic direction was clear, its leadership capabilities needed to evolve to meet the demands of a digital-first environment. The challenge was twofold: first, to cultivate digital leadership skills among its senior leaders, and second, to build a collaborative, cross-functional environment that could drive the organization’s digital ambitions.

As APG AM’s leadership recognized, technical expertise alone wasn’t enough; leaders needed to inspire, align, and execute digital strategies effectively. We partnered to develop a comprehensive Digital Leadership Program to make that happen.

Approach

In collaboration with APG AM, the can do company developed a Digital Leadership Program that was as comprehensive as it was actionable. This five-module program blended technical and leadership development in an interactive, real-world format.

Target Group Analysis: We conducted in-depth assessments to pinpoint leaders’ unique challenges, needs, and competencies, creating a highly tailored curriculum

Sustainable Learning Design: The tailored program aligned closely with APG AM’s strategic objectives, equipping leaders with tools they could apply directly to current and future initiatives.

Capability Building: Hands-on tools, interactive participation, and community sessions enabled leaders to strengthen their digital skills while building crucial cross-functional relationships.

Intranet Hub & Expert Sessions: A dedicated leadership hub on APG AM’s intranet, combined with expert-led live sessions, give leaders ongoing access to key insights and resources, supporting continuous growth and alignment.

Outcomes

The program successfully equipped over 120 leaders across three continents to champion digital transformation within APG AM. A digital leadership hub now serves as a central resource for leaders to share insights and access strategic information.

Participants rated the program very positively, reflecting its impact on building practical skills and reinforcing APG AM’s digital strategy.

Project Highlights

An exciting aspect of this program was the involvement of informal leaders. Identified as influential voices within APG AM, these informal leaders were given a platform to share insights during classroom sessions, enriching the learning experience. Additionally, the launch of the digital hub provided a focal point for ongoing knowledge sharing, while live sessions with internal experts encouraged continuous improvement and strategic alignment across teams.
